This series is of a mother who is neither who she was nor fully gone. Documented from the perspective of a daughter who is learning what it means to witness without looking away while taking care of her mother.

My mother has dementia and Alzheimer’s along with other serious health conditions. There are times when I feel like she is herself. But now those moments are outweighed by more instances where she is somewhere I can’t follow. In Between is an attempt to document all of it, the recognition and the distance… for her, and for me.
